As I was going for my coffee break yesterday I noticed that the vendo machine's lights were off. Having gotten two cups from it already in a span of several hours, I investigated as to what was wrong. Apparently, the electrical plug was loose and the machine wasn't disconnected or intentionally turned off. I plugged it back in and waited for it to initialize and get ready. The woman at the cafeteria mentioned that a lot of people wanted coffee earlier but the machine was off. I guess they didn't think of trying to find out why. Like what I say at times, "It works better if you plug it in".
This reminded me of another incident that happened a few months back involving the same machine. The person ahead of me was unhappy because his cup didn't descend properly. The paper cup was dented and got stuck on the way down to its "filling position". His coffee literally went down the drain without the cup to catch it. He left several pesos poorer and without coffee. Wanting a cup of coffee too, I looked at what was the matter and saw the dented cup. I removed it from its precarious position, deposited my coins, and got myself a cup.
Coffee indeed is such a good thing. When you add the experience of drinking it, whether alone or with other people, in a social setting it adds another dimension to it.
Good coffee, cake, and company. Good times, indeed.
Update on this blog entry: It happened again. The vendo machine was off due to a loose plug. Like before, nobody did anything until I plugged it back in.
